Aarakshan!!!
The most pakau film of this yr!
Worst is becoz it comes in a package of so-called awareness.
After Gangajaal,Apaharan, etc u go to see it expecting a brave film from a gutsy director, one of the biggest controversies besieging our country.
All u see is a badly written screenplay that goes on & on & on abt personal vendetta, discipline, blah blah blah.
Most of the story is soo slip shoddy!!!
Some scenes or dialogues will tickle ur aware bones, depending on which side of the fence ur sitting...Thats it!
A country like India torn by inequalities of Gender,Caste,Religion, minorities, etc has seen so much violence, politics, frustration on this issue. He even writes INDIA Vs INDIA under the name...
Where on earth is all that?
Anyway reservation isn't only limited to college admissions.
A women's reservation bill sits like a frozen duck in the Parliament for 15 yrs. Having travelled in Central India 12yrs ago, making a documentary on women's reservation,i've seen a picture that could not have escaped Prakash Jha...SHOULD NOT HAVE.
Mandala Commission has seen students setting themselves on fire.
Even in a prime medical institution like AIIMS,allocation of rooms in hostels is segregated by caste!!!
Nothing of the pain, humiliation, conflict, controversies, seething anger is there in the film.
What a terrible waste!
Especially considering the awesome cast.
What angered me most is that the director has used up the name Aarakshan, whereas it could have been anything...
Ek master ki larai!!!
Education!!!
Education on sale!!!
KK ki pratisodh!!!
Super Tabela!!!
ANYTHING.
Except now if someone someday really picks up the courage and gumption to do a film on the actual issue of RESERVATION,he/she will simply have to curse Prakash Jha & call it something else and expect that the audience hasn't lost trust in a filmmaker's honesty & will come to the cinema!!!WHAT A CRIMINAL WASTE!!!
